Food, Clothing, and Other Items Needed


The Shelter welcomes donations of food and clothing to meet the basic needs of our guests.  

We accept some other items - please see our list of needed items below.

General Guidelines

Clothing:      Men's Casual Clothing is our greatest need.  Please NO Women's Clothing.

Food:            Frozen meats such as hams or turkeys are very helpful.  Any food in larger quantities is appreciated since we prepare meals for 80-100 people every evening.

Time:            The preferred time to drop off a donation is 

Mon - Fri:     9 am - 9 pm 
or

Sat - Sun:     5:30 - 9 pm

Necessities
  • Toothpaste & Toothbrushes (preferably travel size)
  • Shampoo & Soap (preferably travel size)
  • Disposable Men's RAZORS
  • Deodorant (preferably spray type, large)
  • Hand lotion (preferably in travel size)
  • Combs & Brushes
  • SOCKS and Underwear (Men's and Women's)
  • Bath TOWELS & Washclothes
  • Blankets
  • Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, Sugar
  • Packets of Instant Cereal
  • Toilet Paper & Tissues
  • Napkins & Paper Towels
  • Paper/Plastic Cups, Plates, Bowls
    
Clothing
  • Men's Casual Clothing (Please NO Women's Clothing)
  • Underwear and Socks (Men's and Women's)
    
Clothing to get through the winter weather
  • Thermal long underwear (Tops & Bottoms)
  • Hand & Foot Warmer Packets (available at Bed, Bath & Beyond and other stores)
  • Sweatpants and Sweatshirts (Men’s)
  • Work boots, size 8 and higher (Men’s)
  • Winter Coats (Men’s)
  • Disposable ponchos
    
Things our guests would really appreciate
  • Coupons to McDonald’s or similar food outlets in Hoboken
  • Phone cards (any type)
  • Bus passes (NJ Transit)

  • Canned meat
  • Canned fish (tuna, salmon, etc.)
  • Frozen hams or turkeys
  • Packaged food in large quantities - rice, pasta, vegetables 
    (we feed 100 people each night)
    
For the kitchen
  • Long handled spoons (both with & without holes) and potholders
  • Large carving knives (for our holiday turkeys!)
  • Good quality knife sharpener

  • Computer Chairs (adjustable height, with or without arms)
  • Sturdy Wooden Chairs
  • Large Capacity 3-hole punch
  • Flashlights with Batteries
  • New, Small Umbrellas
